Chloe Kim was born in Long Beach, California on April 23, 2000, and grew up in Torrence, California. It doesn't seem like winter athletes would get a lot of practice in this sunny state. However, Chloe Kim defied her geographic location to become what many call "The Future of Women's Snowboarding".
Chloe began snowboarding at the age of 4. She won a silver medal at the X Games when she was only 13-years-old. She broke out in the 2015 and 2016 X Games, scoring three gold medals those years. She is a young champion already as all her accolades at the X Games were won before she was even 16-years-old.
Chloe Kim will be 18-years-old in April, so she is a very young competitor. She is short at 5'2" and weighs 115 pounds. Chloe Kim is on the Pro Halfpipe Snowboarding team for 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.
It is purported that Chloe Kim's age was the only thing that was holding her back from competing in the Olympics sooner. Her skills were Olympic caliber even years back. Her willingness to travel to all the games and compete was potentially what made her great. For someone so young to be so dedicated, they have to be willing to push past their natural inclinations to rest and coast through even one season.
Chloe grew up with two sisters - Erica and Tracy. She is multilingual as she speaks French and Korean besides English. She also enjoys sports aside from winter ones. Hiking and skateboarding are two of her hobbies. But of course, she also likes other pursuits other than sports - shopping and guitar are two of her past times.
It is bound to be an exciting year in snowboarding. Chloe Kim has perfected her sport and has an easy chance at gold.
At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Chloe took Gold in the Women's Halfpipe finals.
