Emma Stone, an award winning American actress who is known for her raspy voice, was born Emily Jean Stone on November 6, 1988. She first appeared in a Scottsdale, AZ youth theater production of The Wind in the Willows at age 11, which helped get rid of the panic attacks she had suffered from as a young child. Over the next three years, she appeared in 16 additional productions and performed with the theater’s improvisational comedy troupe.
Emma Moves to Hollywood - After one semester in high school, Emma created a PowerPoint presentation to convince her parents to let her pursue acting in Hollywood. At 15, she and her mother made the move to LA. After numerous auditions and dying her hair from blond to brown in an effort to attract serious roles, she was cast, along with 8 other aspiring actresses, in In Search of the New Partridge Family, a 2004 VH1 reality show. Despite only an unsold pilot episode being produced, this role is considered the starting point of Emma’s career and led her to Doug Wald, her manager. She spent the next few years appearing in small roles before making her film debut in 2007’s Superbad, which she won a Young Hollywood Award for.
Emma’s Career Takes Off - In 2010, Emma received her first starring role in Easy A, which won her a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. She would go on to play supporting roles in Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Help (2011). In 2012, she was cast as Spiderman’s love interest in The Amazing Spiderman, a role she also played in the 2014 sequel. In 2014, she was appeared in Birdman, a role she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for. She made her Broadway debut in Cabaret, appearing for the 2014-2015 season. In 2016, she played an aspiring actress in La La Land. She won an Academy Award for Best Actress, a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, and a BAFTA Award.
As of 2016, Emma was one of Hollywood’s highest paid actresses with an estimated net worth of $16 million. Although she has said that she has not been affected by pay inequality in Hollywood, she is very vocal about the need to end the gender pay gap.
Considered a style icon for her sophisticated looks, Emma frequently named to “best dressed” lists by top fashion magazines, including Vogue and Glamour. She often appears on “sexiest women in the word” and “most beautiful women in the world” lists compiled by FHM, Maxim, People, Men’s Health, and Empire.
Her Personal Life - Emma Stone is notoriously quiet about her private life and has voiced a desire to live a “normal life” on several occasions.
