Hi! My name is Kailynne Bouley. I am 15 and I live in Augusta, Maine. I love literature of all kind.I find peace and enlightenment in immersing in the work of others. But what I love the most is telling stories, allowing others to enter my mind and imagination. I find life more interesting when you step outside of it and live in a world of adventure and magic.

The Girl with the Secret

Feb 22, 2018 6 years ago

Amongst all the chaos in the world, on thus the twenty-first of March, a new life was given to a young woman with the name of Missy. Missy was a troubled woman whose father had died when she was a young girl, the mother had begun to drown her sorrows in alcohol and was as absent as the fallen father. Missy had endured much pain throughout the long yet short eighteen years in which she had lived. She too had begun to drown in the drinks, until her wish she unknowingly made had come true; the child in which she had bared. All of the sufferings had come to a happy end and she could finally smile once again. Although this peace did not last long. However, as much as Missy's story is one of great interest, she is not the girl in which this story will depict. Instead, we will travel ahead in time to follow the storyline of the child. For the life she will go on to live is far more interesting. The life she has lived is not one of happiness or joy, instead, it is filled with hurt and misery. As a young child, her mother's partner and the father of her siblings had become quite violent and began taking his anger out on the young girls and woman. Whatever the reason, he was very aggressive and did not care he that he was hurting his children or the woman he claimed to love. He was a very ill man, whose true colors shone brightly at the end of this awful period of time. When Missy had finally gotten the courage to uncover the horrific ways of her unstable partner, anger began to rise deeply and quickly inside the madman. He had threatened to end the life of the mother and her three children. This made the family of the woman, send her and the kids away. They moved to another state to hide from him. But, this new sanctuary's bliss lasted a short minute before a new obstacle had arisen in their paths. Whilst in efforts to regain her life Missy had met a seemingly nice man and his family. And a onetime occasion resulted in a lifetime of pain. Now, expecting with child, Missy unknowing of the mental state of the man's family let them into her children's' lives. From this point on the secret is formed inside the mind of a six-year-old girl. Behind every closed door, she was violated and assaulted. Everyday every shred of her integrity and sense of self-had been taken before she had even been able to gain it. In plain sight yet hidden. She cried for help but not a single soul heard her and so her yelps became silent. This had led her to believe that she was worth no more than an Abraham Lincoln on copper. She carried this feeling with her as the abuse continued on for three dreadful years when she was moved to Maine to reside with her grandmother. The same woman who had started this vicious cycle of abuse over thirty years ago. She had changed though, at the birth of her granddaughter she had led her daughter to believe that she had cut back on her drinking and she was a different woman. Although she was not the woman she was when her husband had passed, she most definitely was not a good caretaker. She was still slowly killing herself with booze. She had loved her granddaughter very much and met her needs perfectly, but she was very harsh to her and she lacked the necessary feelings needed to care for a child. And thus, she kept the young girl a victim for five more years. The family of the young girl did not express feelings or talk about past trauma and so the hurt from her past was kept inside. And they turned a blind eye to the abuse of the girl and the alcohol inducted by the elderly lad, causing the girl's feelings to build up inside of her and even though she showed many signs of both depression and abuse not a single member of her family did a thing. She had told them what was going on but instead of trying to help her they reported back to the grandmother who punished the child harshly. After five brutal years, the girl could no longer handle the emotional abuse and made an attempt on suicide. It was February of 2016, after winter break. The grandmother and her boyfriend were drunk. The old lady was laughing and seemed to be having a good a time so the girl thought she would be nice, but unfortunately, she was not. She ordered the girl to clean the house which was littered with beer cans and tobacco. The girl, fed up with being elderly woman's slave said that she was not going to clean their mess. This had made the grandmother mad and she told the child that she was to eat dinner and go to bed. At this time it was not even 6 in the evening, but the girl knowing that she was in hot water did not argue. She was silent as she heated up her meal. She sat at the table and ate her food, as she was doing so the grandmother entered the kitchen and began yelling at her. She told her that she was fat and lazy and needed to stop being such a pig, along with other mean things. She didn't know she would not have to worry about the child for moments before she had come out she had eaten twenty-four pills and would soon die.
