Shaun White was born on September 3, 1986 in San Diego, California to Cathy and Roger White. Little Shaun was born with a combinations of heart defects called tetralogy of Fallot, or blue baby syndrome. He underwent two heart surgeries which enabled him to not only survive a potential fetal heart disease, but to thrive as an Olympic athlete. Shaun has red long hair which has earned him "The Flying Tomato" nickname.

Shaun studied in Carlsbad High School and later joined San Marcos State of California University.

He first got to snowboarding following Jesse, his older brother to Encinitas YMCA. This was at 6 years of age and his mother ordered Shaun to go slow. But things went really fast - a year later he was discovered by professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, won some snowboarding competitions, and already landed a sponsorship with snowboard manufacturer Burton.

Shaun began his professional snowboarding competition when he was 13 years old. At 17 he also turned pro in skateboarding. By the time he was 19 years old, he won his first Olympic gold medal.

Since Winter Dew Tour was formed in 2006, Shaun has dominated the winning circuit. Shaun White collected a record-breaking 15 gold medals at the X Games, the only athlete ever to win gold at both the Winter and Summer X Games, 10 ESPY awards for Best Male Action Sports Athlete and Best Male US Olympic Athlete, and he is the only rider in the history of the sport to earn a perfect 100 score in SuperPipe.

He is a four-time Olympian in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. He qualified for the 2018 Olympic despite injuries to his face after he crashed into the edge of a superpipe while training in New Zealand.

Shaun was featured in Forbes magazine on the cover of "30 under 30" issue in 2016.

Shaun has released his own video games by his name which shows most of his tricks in snowboarding and skateboarding. He also made cameo appearance in movies and TV series. He plays guitar in the electronic band Bad Things. His hobbies also include surfing and mountain biking.
