Broken mirror

Life Is like a shadow Beheld in a mirror Which I picked up, Beautiful, shining, sparkling I looked And gloated in the glimmer, The reflected firmness Moved me to adore The thing which stirred my confidence. Alas! Like the bolt of Amadiora, Down thro' my worshipful fingers it slipped, And on the ground Smashed my confidence. Closer In glazed wonder gazed, Thoughts deep and disturbing Furrowed my brow. Then, A flash, slow, steady, Caught me nodding In a moment Was earth's mystery unveiled This I share, Man owns nothing: Truth; Life is like a mirror Glossary Amadiora: A Thunder diety, worshipped by the Igbo people of Eastern Nigeria.
