Youth Writer

Vieux Fort , Saint Lucia

Born in Georgetown, Guyana on December 5th, 2000, eighteen (18) year old Molly Malika Alfred is an open-minded, determined and resilient yet a pleasantly humble individual who embodies ambition, compassion and commitment. Her mantra, ‘do you what you are passionate about and always keep God first in all that you do’, encompasses much of her hobbies- reading, writing, volunteering, traveling and photography.

Molly is a past student of St. Rose’s High School and currently, an upper sixth form student at the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School, (Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia) sitting the annual Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (C.A.P.E) in the areas of Caribbean Studies, Integrated Mathematics, Law, Literatures In English and Sociology. However, apart from academics, she is a member of the A’ Level Student Organisation (A.L.S.O), a volunteer group comprising of sixth form students which seeks to reach out and assist vulnerable members within the local community.

As a young aspiring lawyer and ambassador, Molly is mostly affected and intrigued by social issues such as the social injustice of globalization, crime, poverty and unemployment among youths. Her goal therefore as a youth writer, is not only to highlight the aforementioned issues amongst other issues affecting young people but also, to create and implement possible solutions to those issues as well as to leave a positive impact on the lives of young people within her community, country and region at large. In addition, regardless of race, gender, social status or religion, all youths across Guyana and the Caribbean will be represented through her advocacy platform.
