Poverty: The nightmare of Mankind.

Poverty is a word that almost none of us want to hear or be associated with, but the truth of the matter is that half of the population of people in this world if not three quarters (3/4) of it are living in poverty. Moreover even among the lucky few who have made it to become the top millionaires of this world still confess that at one point in time they experienced poverty in their lives. They further go on to say that it was in fact poverty that made them who they are today, as it was the driving force behind their hard work and success. As many scholars have defined it, “Poverty is condition or state in which one lacks the basics of life such as food, shelter or a certain usual amount of money and material possessions to meet minimum standard of living”. For sure no one wants to live in poverty forever everyone wants to be rich and successful, but definitely not everyone is luck to make it, as ladder is just too tall to climb. Nevertheless tall as the ladder can prove to be, an effort to climb it can bring significant results in ones life. Poverty in general has a huge impact on a person and the impact can be either be positive or Negative. The negative impact occurs due to the nightmare and havoc it wrecks on person whereby every day you wake up you do not even where the next meal is going to come from or who will take care of your bills, it is indeed a nightmare as many even resort to suicide so that they get it over with .While others decide to undertake illegal means to survive such as theft, robbery, prostitution, extortion scamming, blackmailing, and drug trafficking among others, as means of survival. However much as these vices can be lucrative they do not last long as the end result is death or lifetime jail as they are bad and indeed negative vices to run to. More often than not these negative vices are the ones more prominent in our lives as they are easily learnt and looks so enticing. Hence many get affected a lot ,especially the youths from poor backgrounds as they often feel ashamed of their situation especially among their peers, who they admire and envy for their luxury things and in the end they turn to drug running , prostitution , scamming, robbery among others to make ends meets. And as you already know these does not last a lifetime as the ending is always devastating. The Positive side of poverty arises when a person living in poverty start making up legal ways and means of fighting and getting out of it. It is not an easy thing but it achievable. A person may want to pursue a certain professional career but does not have the money to be in school then that person has to make a charismatic effort of identifying an individual sponsor or organization that can help out and put him/her through school and college so as to achieve the intended goal. However should that prove not to be feasible then that person should let go of the ego and start doing odd jobs such as washing other people's cars, clothes and running other small errands during the day and later saving whatever little he/she is making to use it for enrollment in evening classes that way you will achieve your dream career. Another option is to acquire some basic income generation skills such as tailoring, plumbing, hair dressing, cosmetic therapy, heavy duty machine operation, welding and landscaping among other skills. Because by acquiring these skills your daily income is guaranteed as people will be hiring you to give them a service. Poverty is and will forever be part of mankind. But what should be in every person mind is that it is up to us to fight it by positioning ourselves and think positive, by making certain strides for the betterment of our wellbeing ,as there is no person designed to be in poverty. However should you defeat your mind by accepting that you are poor then you will continue to be poverty and your next generation forever.
