Me too

The first words out of a friends mouth when you tell them you have been raped should never be "are you sure you didnt flirt with them?" "What did you wear?" "Have you had sex with them before?" "How many partners have you had?" I keep hearing friends, coworkers even family members say "It doesnt seem like its true because so many women in Hollywood are coming out" "It seems like they just want attention" In my opinion if you have never been sexually assaulted, you shouldnt be able to speak on it. A person who has never heard the words no one will believe you, I will kill you if you tell anyone, or you wanted it, shouldnt be able to speak about the people who are bravely calling out their offenders. Some people say they are guilty for putting other people at risk by not telling. Some people say they shouldnt have accepted money to keep silent. Maybe this is true but until you are in the postion, you dont know what you will do. When you have children to feed and your job will be risked if you speak out, you have to make a choice. I have 6 close girlfriends that I have known since childhood and all 6 have been sexually assaulted at some point in our 31 years. Not all were raped but some woke up to men touching them. As a woman we feel extreme guilt in these situations. We blame ourselves. We feel shame and I am not sure why. What did we do wrong? Is it because we have a vagina that we are instantly the reason these terrible things continue to happen? I have heard horror stories of girls being raped by their fathers, boys being fondled by their uncles, children being harmed by the leaders of sports teams. When it is your child, your wife, your family is that when you will believe them? Is that when you will support the movement? #metoo
