Knowledge is power

March 16, 2020, was the day when the quarantine was announced in Uzbekistan. I remember it like it was yesterday, everyone was engulfed in anxiety, and all the people were worried and afraid. We had just started a new chapter in our married life, and the sweet moments of our lives had just begun. Television news programs, radio, and the internet were constantly reporting on the number of people affected by COVID-19 and the number of deaths in various countries. The observation of how many people are being separated from their loved ones on television was remarkably poignant. Imagine the condition of a person who witnessed their loved one suffering from COVID-19: he helps as much as possible, but the illness quickly weakens the patient, causing their joints to ache, draining their entire body of strength, and leading to a state of exhaustion... It seemed to me that life was ending, all our pre-wedding dreams seemed to vanish into thin air. I was deeply saddened and very tearful. During such a gloomy time, one day my spouse called me over. He had a diary and a pen in his hand. We sat down together in the living room. He told me to write. I puzzled and asked him what to write. He said to write down our aspirations, plans and everything based on our dreams. Then we discussed our goals and wrote them down. We also talked and were in agreement about certain things: not dwelling on negative thoughts, avoiding sensational news on social media, engaging in regular exercise, and finishing at least two books per week... Believe me, life became colorful and meaningful from that day onwards. My spouse and I started competing in reading many books. We not only read books but also took notes important parts for us. Every Sunday, we would share our ideas and thoughts with each other about books we had read. The books we read covered a variety of topics: business, health, personal development, and literary works. Furthermore, my spouse and I are both English teachers and we had only one learning center at that time, where various subjects and foreign languages were taught. Due to the quarantine, we were forced to close our learning center as well. We thought about finding a way to make money without leaving home, so we created an online platform and organized online classes. Not only us but all the teachers at our learning center started conducting online classes. The quarantine period, which was the most challenging time in my life, turned out to be the most enriching and inspiring period of reading books. During the quarantine, I gained essential knowledge for my life and career. I refreshed my IELTS score and completed my master's degree online at Webster University in Tashkent. Life during quarantine taught me many things: to be creative, always have hope for the future, never stop learning. The knowledge we gained during quarantine led us to many successes. Currently, classes at our learning center are conducted both online and offline. We have managed to increase the number of branches of our learning center. I believe that when anyone reflects on their memories during the quarantine tears come to their eyes, they appreciate the difficulties they faced at that time and are grateful for their survival and the lessons they learned. I believe that triumph always follows challenges. Most importantly, when faced with challenges, a person should be patient, and resilient, and never lose hope, and the main key is to never stop acquiring knowledge! I was convinced that the power of knowledge to bring people out of the darkness to light.
